Happy Father’s Day to this guy. I wouldn’t have the high expectations I do, the strength to carry on when I’m knocked down, the courage to persevere, and the ability to take a step back when needed if it weren’t for him. He has taught me some of the most important life lessons and has been the backbone to our family for 30+ years. He’s why I stand firm in what I believe and am my own person without regret. Love you, Dad.
Happy Father’s Day, everyone! This is an oldie but a goodie. I had the pleasure of photographing my brother and beautiful sister-in-law’s wedding in 2010. This is one of my favorite moments. A man who didn’t have to be there stepped up and has been a wonderful dad, friend, and provider. Thanks to all those dads who didn’t have to be dads!
These two adorable kiddos are my niece and nephew. Gracie is 6 and Denton is 18 months. He’ll be two in May, and I cannot believe it! I remember the day he was born like it was last week! 🙂
Siblings fight and have competitive rivalries, pull each other’s hair, get on each other’s nerves but… not these two. From the moment Gracie found out she was having a little brother, she has completely embraced him. She is the most loving, generous, and helpful little girl. If Denton is getting in her space, or trying to get her toy she gently says, “No, Bubba. Go get your train.” or any other suggestion that comes to her mind. She allows him to play with her toys, as well, but a girl’s gotta glam up her Monster High dolls every now and then. I am so thankful for their bond, and I pray it continues.
This session was a quick one due to the muggy and cold day. We all set this bench on the edge of the pasture in hopes that the horses would join us. Unfortunately, they didn’t but the light was wonderful! The sun peeked through the clouds to my left. It was a great balance. The kids weren’t too happy about being outside and not able to play at that time, but we were able to capture some smiles and silliness. I stopped down to 2.0 and exposed evenly. In post, I simply increased the contrast by 5 and that was that! These kids don’t require very much touch up. 🙂 I may be biased…
These beautiful babes are my niece, Gracie, and my nephew, Denton. During the week after his birth, his mom and I wanted to document his smiles and wide eyes. Big sister wanted to be a part of the session, as well, and this loving gaze takes the cake. During the rest of the session, Gracie comforted her baby brother with a special song and kind words. She says “he’s like an angel” and sings a song she wrote herself, “I love my baby Denton, I love my baby Denton”. Oh, how full of love are these simple words. Her admiration of her brother pours out and is so evident. I love that I am able to capture the interaction between these two. At only four years old, Gracie, is a very concerned and loving big sister. Denton’s admiration and wonder at his big sister is evident in this image, as well. I am so excited to capture the mile stones in these siblings’ lives.
This is why I do not allow my clients to obtain digital copies of my photos and print on their own. I pay a professional lab to print my photos for my clients, so that they may obtain the best quality out there.
I cannot believe how quickly the past seven years have gone by. From the first time I met Lauren, my brother’s wife, to now having her carry my second niece or my first nephew. Here is a little Throwback image. It is the first family photo with Gracie and the last family photo we will have with just one grand baby!
Before I left for a minisession in town today, I photographed some of the beautiful birds in my backyard. I love watching them flutter around and play!
During the minisession, three siblings played around in the snow and had a blast! I will post photos soon!
I cannot believe how quickly this year has gone by! The older I get, the more quickly time passes. So, to prevent Christmas from creeping up and surprising me, stay tuned for some Christmas promos and specials in October! I have some great ideas and they will be precious.
Today, Gracie has been nothing but a ”diva”. We went to the store and while I was getting dressed, she was brushing her hair, pretending to curl it and from the bathroom I heard her declare, “I need my lipstick!” She’s hilarious! She’s spent all day in her favorite Belle dress, Barbie shoes, and Cinderella crown. She even insisted on me putting make up on her! I love her to pieces and decided to take advantage of her diva self today and photograph her. She was such a great sport and listened to my direction. I could not pick just a few photos to display, so I hope you all enjoy these.
