I am so thankful that I grew up going to a small town and experiencing time with my family without TV or other technologies and spending the time in nature. It really helped me to appreciate my parents, their company, and the Lord’s art work. Even though, many mornings I would spend asleep in the stand, it was wonderful to be able to wake up and see two bucks fighting or new breed of birds I’d never find in the city. Growing up, many people didn’t respect me with an accent or a passion for harvesting animals so I tried to change myself to fit their standards. That didn’t work out too well. Not only do I view things differently than they do because I grew up with different experiences than them; I realized I am wired very differently. I have always had a passion for the unique and peculiar. Learning of my gift for photography helped me realize and utilize why I see the world differently. I’ve also always had a passion for who people are, not what they look like. Many young children were concerned when they saw someone with a disability or unique qualities while I inquired their friendship and wanted to be a part of their life. I feel that this passion for people who are misunderstood came from the Lord because of my nature and my disability I wouldn’t develop until about 11 years of age. After bidding adieu to sports when I was 11, I invested the next 7+ years learning and exploring music. Not only did I learn multiple instruments, I also became a fan of many different genres and artists in music. I invested myself in this passion of mine and volunteered worship time on Sundays with pre-schoolers.
I’m not so sure how all of these passions and interests will meld together but I know God has a plan and will surprise me with His creativity.

Patience is not a virtue of mine…

When it comes to what the Lord has in store for me, it is very difficult to wait on Him… I have been feeling very low the past few years because I don’t feel that I am doing enough for Him! I have been in the same situation for five years and feel like I’m just ‘going with the flow’. I know the Lord has amazing things in store for me but what can I be doing for Him in the mean time? I have so many talents, passions, and yearnings that I have no idea where to even begin! Lord, where are you wanting me to go? I will go. I will do your work wherever it is you need me.

I would like to say that I am praying for all those who are serving in His name, across the seas and here at home. May the Lord be with you and grant you peace, even in the darkest of times.

Real Estate

I am so enthused! On Thursday I was asked to photograph some real estate for a woman I know. She is selling a house and needed images for the virtual tour she would need to create for the website. I photographed the entire house in about thirty minutes and love the results! I really hope they benefit her and enable a quicker sale. 🙂 I am so happy about all the doors that are opening for me. I’m just going with the flow and doing what I can to get my name out there!!

Cure for Insomnia

Ever since I can remember, I’ve had trouble sleeping. Last night in particular, I was tired but still have too much energy to sleep. Even though I took Princess for a walk that morning, I decided to exercise! I did moderate leg lifts and stretched from my heels to my toes to work my calve muscles. During the chorus of a song, I would raise my arms across and above my body, alternating between my left and right. I feel that doing something different everyday will help work my body best because it won’t become used to the same routine. When I am through taking care of little man tonight, I will walk on the treadmill and do some yoga.

Yesterday, I decided to begin a new exercise regiment. I had no idea what all that would entail but I knew I wanted to, at least, start by walking on the treadmill for 15 minutes each day to work myself into it. Well, during those fifteen minutes, I decided to add some aerobic type arm movements only during the chorus of the song I was listening to. I then realized, with my passion for music, I could work out with the pace of the songs. I added on about thirty more minutes of aerobics and core strengthening yoga. As I have muscular dystrophy and cannot do sit ups, I do a lot of legs lifts, bridges, and arm movements to defy gravity. I never realized how much certain arm movements can work out my lower stomach muscles; which is my problem area… Along with weak legs. In order to relieve some back issues, I am attempting to strengthen my core as much as possible and my legs, to counteract all the strain placed on my back when lifting things. Today, I decided to take my dog for a walk around the block which wore her out and made her very happy! 🙂 Then, I did more aerobics and yoga to the tempo of songs: bridges during the chorus this time. I love this method of working out, especially when listening to some of my favorite music that gets my heart pumping just when I hear it!
